We’re Pretty Sure You Failed to See This Pizza Blunder in ET: The Extra-Terrestrial, Too

Almost 40 years after it hit the big screen, a blunder has been spotted in ET: The Extra-Terrestrial. This revelation came from Insidious writer Leigh Whannell. On Twitter, he stated he couldn’t take it anymore and disclosed an inaccuracy that had been bothering him for years; one that centers around pizza!

Whannell tweeted: “Won’t stay silent on this bull**** any longer: Right before Elliot’s first encounter with ET, his brother's friends tell him to wait for the pizza delivery guy and get one with “pepperoni” and no “little fishies”. YOU CAN’T DECIDE WHAT PIZZA YOU WANT A F T E R YOU’VE ORDERED.”

So, we did a little checking and found out that the writer’s claim is actually spot on. In one scene, Elliott, played by Henry Thomas, was not allowed to join the game of Dungeons & Dragons, until the pizza delivery guy arrived. As he waits, he’s given the order to get one with "everything but the little fishies."

When the latter delivery guy finally arrives, the kid goes outside to pick up the order, which we’re led to think is overloaded with sausage and pepperonis.

Unlike Whannell, we’re happy to give the film the benefit of the doubt. Maybe Elliott had to phone the pizza company and then wait for their order. Still, the way the line is delivered is kind of unusual.

In 2018, to mark its 35th anniversary, one of the stars of ET, Robert MacNaughton, disclosed that the film’s alternate ending would have showcased more scenes of them playing Dungeons & Dragons.
